Frequently asked questions

Is it still called a tax invoice in New Zealand?

Since April 2023 IRD calls the required details "taxable supply information" and the document no longer has to be titled "tax invoice", but most businesses still use the name. This template includes all the required information.

When do I have to register for GST?

Once your turnover is over $60,000 in 12 months, or expected to be. Check IRD for the current threshold.

How do I show GST-inclusive prices?

Tick "Prices already include GST". The invoice shows the GST component (3/23 of the total at 15%).
