Frequently asked questions

What is the VAT rate in the UAE?

The standard rate is 5%. Some supplies, such as certain exports, are zero-rated, and some are exempt.

What is a simplified tax invoice?

A simplified tax invoice with fewer details is generally allowed for unregistered recipients, and for registered recipients when the supply is AED 10,000 or less. Check the current FTA guidance.

Is e-invoicing mandatory in the UAE?

It is being phased in: from 1 January 2027 for businesses with annual revenue of AED 50 million or more, and from 1 July 2027 for other businesses, through an accredited service provider. This template does not create an e-invoice. Check the Ministry of Finance timeline for your business.
